Relevance and Reality: Bain and Romney

It is charming to listen to the all-wise pundits on the news channels argue about whether the Democratic attacks on Romney's career at Bain Capital are relevant. You mean relevant like in:
  • the swiftboating of John Kerry,
  • the Willie Horton adds against Dukakis,
  • the Harry and Louise attacks on the Clinton health plan,
  • the daisy ad against Goldwater suggesting he might get us into a nuclear war?
Let's get real, let us have some realpolitik here. The adds about Romney and Bain may or may not be relevant  (they are in some respects), but the more important question is do they  work, do they get votes for Obama, turn people away from Romney?
